What Does a Biomechanical Assessment Include?

Using advanced Footscan® technology, we take an in-depth look at how your body moves:

  • Stability & Balance Testing – Assessing how your body responds to different movements
  • Data-Driven Insights – Pinpointing the root cause of your discomfort

Custom orthotics are a worthwhile investment that provides significant long-term benefits for your body and helps you save money over time. Unlike non-custom orthotics, which may be cheaper but are often made with unreliable, lower quality materials, custom orthotics are specifically designed to address your unique issues, offering lasting relief without the need for additional expense.
The 3D-printed base is very durable. With normal use, either for daily wear or sports activities, you can expect the base to last for at least two years without any deformities. Depending on the intensity of use, your top cover may wear out faster than this, but you can easily replace them whenever necessary.

Yes, they are! It is suggested that you clean your orthotics with mild soap and water, then let them air-dry afterward.

During your biomechanical assessment at Rachel Sharp Rehab, you can expect the following:

  1. Initial Consultation: We start with a discussion about your medical history, current issues, and goals.
  2. Footscan Analysis: You will perform various movements while standing on the Footscan platform to collect data on your pressure distribution and balance.
  3. Movement Assessment: We will observe and record your movements in different activities, such as sitting, squatting, balancing, walking, and running.
  4. Data Review: We will analyse the collected data to identify any imbalances or inefficiencies in your movement patterns.
  5. Personalised Plan: Based on the analysis, we will create a customised plan to address your specific needs and help you improve your movement efficiency. This may also include the use of Phits custom made orthotics.
  6. Follow-Up Sessions: Regular follow-ups to monitor your progress and adjust the plan as needed.
If you load the muscles/joints in a way that is not biomechanically optimal this can cause wear and tear of joints, tendons and muscles and this can cause pain. A common injury is runners’ knee, often the connective tissue band down the side of the thigh (ITB) gets excessively tight which leads to increased friction and irritation of the band when it crosses over the femoral epicondyle during activities. Often the reason for the ITB getting tight is due to mechanical imbalances in the body, especially involving the low back, pelvis, hips, and knees.
