Exercise Rehabilitation Sutton Coldfield
Benefits of Exercise
It’s widely acknowledged that exercise has many benefits and injury need not stop you.
How can I help?
At Sharp Rehab, we use exercise rehabilitation to develop a programme to improve both your injury and your general conditioning.
I offer exercise rehabilitation at my clinic at Bannatynes Health Club & Spa in Sutton Coldfield.
What does it involve?
If you’re unsure as to what it is, below I answer some frequently asked questions on the topic and give some examples of the kind of exercises in a typical exercise rehab programme.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Exercise Rehabilitation?
Exercise rehabilitation is a prescribed set of exercises that will be based on the findings from the assessment, these can include active movement, balance & co-ordination drills, strengthening and stretching.
The exercises will aim to return full function following injury through improving mobility, flexibility and muscular strength/endurance/power. Every person, sport and injury is unique, so your programme will be personally tailored to you in order to maximise your potential.
The program can focus on the affected area, but often it is useful to strengthen other areas of the body too to help the injury and come out even better.
Does Exercise Rehabilitation help with injury recovery?
Exercise rehabilitation is an essential part in recovering from pain or injury.
In many cases the success of recovery is attributed to undertaking a thorough & progressive rehabilitation plan, this can also help prevent re-injury.
If your aims are returning to marathon fitness or simply being pain free, your exercise rehabilitation programme will be a key part to your rehabilitation.
Can Exercise Rehabilitation give me confidence to return to my sport?
Yes, an important aspect of the exercise rehabilitation programme is to boost your confidence in returning to your sport/activity post injury.
It is understandable that if you incurred an injury while participating in your activity of choice, that you would be apprehensive about returning to said activity.
By working through a progressive rehabilitation programme, you will have the opportunity to carry out similar activities under initially controlled situations and then gradually increase activity into more realistic settings.
Can I book an Exercise Rehabilitation session without seeing you first?
To make the most of each session, you will need to book an initial assessment with me first. This way, as mentioned above, we can devise a treatment plan.
If you have already had an initial assessment with a treatment plan in place, then please do book a session with me.
How much does an Exercise Rehabilitation initial consultation cost?

Sharp Rehab - Exercise programme
At Sharp Rehab, you will get an exercise programme emailed to you following your appointment with exercises that we will run through during your appointment, to make sure that you understand what you need to do, and are able to replicate the exercise without me showing you.
This is because you will need to work on the exercises regularly between appointment.
Then just as you’ve mastered the exercises, we will progress them at your next appointment and make them a little more challenging and interesting, to keep your injury recovery progressing and help keep you motivated to continue working.
Examples of Exercise Rehabilitation
Single leg balance on a BOSU ball
This would be an exercise perhaps for ankle, knee or hip injury
Please note: Balance exercises should start on a stable surface before progressing to single leg, unsupported on an unstable surface as shown.
Stretching to improve flexibility
This example is for a hamstring stretch. A slight pull will be felt at the back of the right thigh in this picture with the leg straight.
It can be useful in many conditions including low back pain
Strengthening exercises
This example shows a single leg glute bridge, with band around the knees.
This works the gluteal muscles in your bottom, which can help lower body pain.
Performing a single leg version and with the band around the knees makes it that little bit cheekier.
